How to Get Involved
Developing the Transportation System Plan (TSP) will involve residents, business owners, and other stakeholders in Seaside. There are a variety of upcoming opportunities for you to participate in the development of the Seaside TSP, which are listed below (or you can view a graphic explaining the Public Involvement Process).

Transportation Summits (2 meetings) Transportation Summits are community meetings intended to share work that has already been done and to gather ideas for moving forward. The first Summit focused on the survey outcomes and understanding community priorities. The second Summit will focus on the outcomes from the smaller Mode/Policy Workshops, including gathering input on a preliminary project list.
  • Transportation Summit #1 – Wednesday, June 18, 2008
All of the Materials from the Transportation Summit are available.

A Summer Assignment was given at the Transportation Summit. The community was asked to help us further understand what we heard from the community survey. We encourage you to get involved this summer by doing the following:

    1. Try a different mode of transportation! Once a week, once a month, or once over the summer - try taking a trip by bus, by bicycle, or on foot. Tell us what worked, what didn't work, where you think improvements are needed.
    2. Observe the system, and report back to us what you see. We all know that Seaside is busy during the summer months. Where are the problems, when are they happening? What did you see this summer?
    3. Take pictures. A picture speaks 1,000 words. Please take photos of what you love about Seaside, as well as the transportation problems you see. Send them in to us! We will want to use some of these photos in our final report so please tell us your name so we can give you credit for the picture, or let us know if you don't want your photo to be used.

Feel free to send us multiple comments over the summer. Your input helps us complete the first phase of this project, identifying the need for transportation improvements in Seaside. This will then serve as the basis for brainstorming and evaluating possible improvements this fall through the workshops.

  • Transportation Summit #2 – fall 2008 (location, date, and time to be determined)
Mode/Policy Workshops (3 meetings, summer/fall 2008) During the first Transportation Summit, the project team will form small groups to address specific transportation issues that are important to the community. The transportation issues could be centered on a particular mode of transportation or a policy issue (such as bicycle/pedestrian connections or street design and networks). The groups will work together to review technical data and will provide recommendations to the second Transportation Summit If you would like to be part of these workshops, please attend the first Transportation Summit or send us an email.
  • Mode/Policy Workshop #1 – late September 2008 (location, date, and time to be determined)
  • Mode/Policy Workshop #2 – early November 2008 (location, date, and time to be determined)
  • Mode/Policy Workshop #3 – early December 2008 (location, date, and time to be determined)
Web Survey (April 15 – May 15) The survey results will help develop a sense of what transportation issues are important to the community. The survey findings will form part of the basis for future conversations about what transportation improvements should be included in the TSP. A summary of those findings were discussed at the first Transportation Summit.

Other Ways to Get Involved If you are not able to attend these events, you can tell us what you think contacting us. You can also request community presentations from the project team throughout the project by contacting us.
